About Me
I'm Darren! I'm a creative, content creator, and an explore. On my downtimes I love to escape from the city-life of LA and explore out into the wilderness. I make Youtube Videos when I get the opportunity to go traveling. I document my traveling through video and post them online as a great way of keeping track of my memories. As of 2022, my favorite place is to visit is Alaska. During the summer season there are so many outdoor activities such as, fishing for salmon, digging up clams, hiking, whale watching, and putting my photography/videography skills into work.
How I got into UX
For the past 3 years, I worked in the film industry with companies including Warner Brothers and Paramount Studios. At the time, I facilitated the management and procurement of production and workplace supplies. Additionally, I worked closely with the executive team and scheduled production and logistics meetings. I enjoyed the role of a Production Assistant and I’ve really honed my skills working at a fast-paced environment which was constantly changing. However, I wanted a role where I could express my interests in creating and designing. My journey into UX started in January 2022. I decided to apply for the UCI UX/UI Designer Bootcamp. After an intense 24 weeks, I believe that this bootcamp has helped me grow professionally and has given me deep insight on how to understand not only the users but identify what the audiences are looking for, which enables me to design unique solutions. I was able to make great connections with classmates and professors, and through this experience of completing challenging tasks, we formed a strong bond with one another. I’m glad I decided to take a leap of faith and explore the new field of UX design. I know my previous experiences have prepared me well for this next step.
